AIREX is an annual Design Build and Fly competition (DBFC) held at GIKI University. Each year, the competition presents a unique challenge that establishes the design requirements for the participants.
Our team, composed entirely of school students, was the only non-university group participating, competing against mostly second- and third-year university students. This was our first attempt at building a plane, and the experience was both challenging and rewarding.
We had to learn the basic principles of aerodynamics, work with new materials, and ensure everything stayed within budget, as the project was self-funded. Despite these obstacles, we successfully completed our plane and managed to compete in the event, gaining invaluable experience and knowledge in the process.
My Jeep 💘 has been the object of my affection since I was 4 years old. So when I was finally old enough to get a license it came as a surprise to no one that I immediately made a beeline for it. To my dismay, the poor old girl didn't run, both the front wheels were seized in place, the water pipes had rusted to a crumbly mess and most of the rubber bushes had rotted away. 🫣
The first modification/upgrade that the jeep got was new brakes! The model I have is super old, and doesn't really come with disk brakes so I had to scavenge the scrapyard to find one from a newer model. This of course meant that some modifications had to be made for them to fit in perfectly. I had to rebuild the entire front hubs including new bearings and seals.
Junkyard parts cleaned and ready
Parts laid out in the order of assembly (mostly sorted)
The jeep has been a project that started in 2016 and still goes on to this day.....
